Snakes may be the most
villianized animal on the planet and yet they're actually
one of the most beneficial.
- The smallest snakes protect our
food sources from pests that our crops
- Larger snakes eat disease spreading
pests like mice, rats, fleas, ticks and mites
- Venom from many venomous snakes
is used in medicines that keep people alive.
Without snakes we would be in a world
of hurt, but because of fear and misinformation most
people kill every snake they see. Through education
we can help people overcome their fear and that's what
led Louisiana Snake ID to create the Snake
Life Foundation.
Welcome to Louisiana Snake ID!
We are a family-owned mission dedicated
to the scaly residents of the our state and entire country.
Whether you found a surprise guest in your garden or
you’re looking to sharpen your identification skills,
you’ve come to the right place.
Our philosophy is simple: "You
don't have to love them, just please don't kill them."
What We Do
We believe that fear is often just
a lack of information. To bridge that gap, we offer
several services across Louisiana:
Live Education: We
bring our passion to libraries, schools, birthday parties,
and community events. Our presentations are designed
to be engaging, safe, and eye-opening for all ages.
Safe Relocation: Found
a snake where it shouldn't be? We provide professional
relocation services to ensure both the snake and your
family stay safe.
Free Identification: Snap
a photo and send it our way! We provide fast, free identification
to help you distinguish between a harmless neighbor
and a venomous friend.
Digital Learning: Follow
us on social media for regular tips, "What's This
Snake?" challenges, and behind-the-scenes looks
at Louisiana’s incredible biodiversity.
Why It Matters
Snakes play a vital role in our ecosystem,
keeping rodent populations in check and maintaining
the balance of nature. By choosing education over elimination,
you are helping us save snake lives and keep Louisiana
wild.
